All tracks instrumental.
The Diasonics are a five-piece instrumental group based in Moscow, formed in 2019. The band records at Studio 23, a studio built inside a former Soviet-era lamp factory. Ornithology, released October 3, 2025 on Record Kicks, is their second album, following 2022's Origin of Forms.
The record combines cinematic funk, Eastern-tinged melodies, instrumental hip-hop, and analog soul. Bird imagery encountered by the band, in train stations, shop signs, surnames, and the sound of gulls near their studio, became a recurring theme across the album. Vintage synthesizers and the vocals of Diana Greb feature throughout, alongside the band's instrumental core: Daniil Lutsenko (guitar), Kamil Gazizov (keyboards), Maksim Brusov (bass), Anton Moskvin (drums), and Alexander Shingaling (percussion).
A sweet set of instrumental-heavy grooves. Dusty, locked-in, on-point vibes.
A lush, flowing, jazz-funk record.
Get down from your perch and dig Ornithology: anything else is strictly for the birds.
The Diasonics build on their debut LP with an avian-themed follow-up.
An interesting body of work with non-stop action-packed sounds from start to finish.
A pleasant and stimulating record confirming The Diasonics' creative vein and their ability to overcome national boundaries.
